Synopsis
Cinderella’s life at Belching-Forthe Hall is not very happy since the death of her father. She is badly treated by her wicked stepmother, Evillia Belching-Forthe and is bullied by her mad, bad ugly step-sisters, Plain and Purl. Luckily her best friend, Buttons the page boy, keeps her happy with his silly jokes and pranks. Unbeknown to her he has been in love with her since they first met. He does his best to protect her from their nasty tempers, helped by Norris Gnome of the N.S.P.C.C. (The Nome Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Cinderella) Cinderella thinks all her dreams have come true when she receives an invitation to Prince Charming’s Ball at the Palace. But when her invitation is torn up by Plain and Purl, Norris Gnome feels enough is enough and phones Fairyland for reinforcements. Cinderella’s outraged Fairy Godmother, helped by kindly but bumbling Wizard Wombat, produces enough Magic to amaze the most critical little boy in the audience and Cinderella is ready to go to the Ball. There she meets and falls in love with Prince Charming. But then, at midnight, disaster strikes and she is back in the kitchen in her rags again, leaving one of her glass slippers behind. Prince Charming and Dandini desperately search the country for her. Helped by Norris Gnome, and Buttons of course, a plan is set in motion for a happy ending for Cinderella and Prince Charming.
Pick and Mix, a pair of hopeless burglars, weave in and out of the story with their slapstick comedy, and a chorus of Villagers, Street Vendors, Courtiers, Mice, Devils, Goblins, Gremlins, ponies and fairies, turn this traditional family pantomime into a blend of fun, laughter, magic and romance. Specially written for amateur performance with eight Principal characters, it can be staged simply or as elaborately as required. Four main scenes, alternate scenes are performed in front of main curtain or tabs. Production notes are included to help with staging this pantomime
