Synopsis
Review by Halstead Gazette. Smuggling spirits is a lucrative side-line for ex-convict Harold in Doris Hilliard’s brilliant comedy The Haunting of Harold which had its premiere at the Quay Theatre. This play is a topsy-turvy whodunnit where ghosts attempt to unravel the mystery of their demise. It all goes pear-shaped for Harold (Nigel Burgess) when Big Vera (Susie Daws threatens to get his nobly kneecaps blasted unless he hands over his ill-gotten gains. Harold’s glamorous girl friend Cathy (Jessica Millar) is also in grave danger. Tensions mount when Harold is haunted by his two departed cousins who are convinced he murdered them for their money. But did he? Maybe their suave and kindly doctor (Peter Walker) helped them on their way. Or could it be someone else? Stuart Carter successfully makes his Quay debut as Alex, a womanizing ghost writer trying to escape an unwanted marriage. Halstead Gazette.
