Dick Whittington Pantomime Script by Eric Fowler

Dick Whittington
Eric Fowler
A truly hilarious script that closely follows the traditional story. Lots of fun on the good ship Lollipop, with Captain Cuttle and Sid Scuttle, in Fitzwarren’s shop and the Sultan of Morocco’s palace, as good fairy, Bow Bells, battles with evil King Rat. An opportunity for a great spectacular ’Under the Sea’ ballet.

Synopsis

With plenty of opportunity to cheer Fairy Bow Bells and boo the nasty King Rat, Eric Fowler’s script includes much comedy especially between Dame Sarah the cook, Captain Cuttle with his first mate, Sid Scuttle, of the good ship Lollipop plus Idle Jack who waters his ever growing money tree when reminded by the audience.

Of course Dick Whittington with his cat, Tommy, are central to the plot in a story based on a mixture of truth and legend that takes in locations in London, aboard ship, under the sea and in the Sultan of Morocco’s palace.

Dick is wrongly accused of stealing money from Alderman Fitzwarren’s shop and has to go away leaving Alice, the alderman’s daughter who he loves. But on hearing the bow bells of London he returns to try to drive away the plague of rats that are infesting the city. He manages it with the aid of Tommy, but not before being shipwrecked on a voyage to Morocco.

The ship sinking scene can be made very spectacular and there is the opportunity for a delightful underwater ballet with fish and sea nymphs, plus a dream ballet in a panto that contains all the traditional elements and modern references.

There are twelve different scenes and a cast of eleven principals plus minor roles, chorus, dancers and children. Full production notes included.
