The youngest son overhears what is planned and follows his brother into the warehouse, accidentally setting off the alarm. During the raid the night watchman is killed and the villains escape, but the youngest son is caught by the Police and is under pressure to identify those involved…

Synopsis

The play takes place in the London docklands in 1956, centred on the Drew family in the living room of their house.

Mr Drew is a Stevedore at the docks; Geoffrey the eldest son works in the office at the warehouse. Mary, the eldest daughter works in an office, Phyllis, the flighty one works in a shop, and Davy has just left school and works in a garage.

Geoffrey has got involved with a crook, Mr Ludovic, a foreigner, who is forcing him to become involved in a raid on the warehouse where he works, to steal two lorry loads of furs and diamonds from the office safe. Davy overhears what is planned and follows his brother into the warehouse, accidentally setting off the alarm. The crooks and Geoffrey escape, but Davy is locked in and caught by the Police.

During the raid the night watchman is killed and the Police think Davy knows who did it. Mr Drew tries to get Davy to talk, but Davy knows it was it was his brother Geoffrey who hit the night watchman.

What happens and how does the story end?
