Synopsis

When Princess Nicola wishes to find a man in her life, she sets off to the magical town of Hocus Pocus to seek magician Black Malefic’s aid with a love potion. In town she meets Minnie Giggle-Bottom, Malefic’s housekeeper, who directs her to the right establishment in Necromancy Lane. Malefic’s intentions are, to say the least, dishonourable, but his plot to have the Princess for himself fails when she meets Prince Steven.

Filled with petty jealousy and malice, Malefic intends turning Nicola and her female friends into blackbirds, baking them in a pie and serving it up to her parents, King Benefice and Queen Abigail. With the help of his cousins, Crazy Meg and Weird Wanda, Malefic completes his spell and only intervention by Minnie and Alexander Little, the sorcerer’s gullible assistant, will save the day, rescuing not only Nicola and her friends, but also grace a palace maid whose appearance is greatly altered by blackbird Nicola.

Cast of 10 with a chorus taking parts of townspeople, peasants, Malefic’s servants, courtiers and blackbirds.
