| A Rainy Day in Worthing
Arthur and Edith go into the ‘Antiques Fair’ simply to find shelter for Arthur from the rain while Edith gets her hair done. When she leaves, he finds an old fruit bowl which brings back memories of his divorce from his first wife, for which he still blames Edith. When she returns, the ensuing argument leads to her walking out… Fortunately he comes to his senses in time, and they leave to make a fresh start. Unfortunately, it breaks up the long standing affair of Fred and Sylv at the same time.
The Con Merchant
Arnold Boot, a con man, tries to con Edith Butcher out of her supposed fortune… Edith, an equally clever con woman, tries to con Arnold into being the prime suspect for her husband’s murder. Tracy, an undercover policewoman, falls for Sean, Edith’s toy boy chauffeur, and, when the opportunity arises, clears off with him and the loot - as any sensible copper would, of course. It transpires that Ruby, Arnold’s ex, has spent the money in buying the seaside café where the action takes place… saving enough to clear off herself when the time is right, leaving the two con artistes working in the café.

Synopsis
A Rainy Day in Worthing Fred and Sylv are two stall holders in an ‘Antiques Fair’ in a shabby Church Hall in Worthing - fifty pee entrance fee. They have been having an affair for some time, but Sylv is getting tired of Fred’s constant excuses for him not telling his wife - usually for financial reasons. They are the only two in the hall one Saturday morning, due to the rain, and are, as usual, bickering.
When Arthur and Edith enter the hall they sense a sale, but find that Arthur is only there to shelter from the rain while Edith gets her hair done. When Edith leaves, Arthur finds an ugly old fruit bowl that brings back all the bitter-sweet memories of his first marriage, and, although he did the honourable thing and married her, he still blames Edith for the break up and the reversal of his fortunes. He tries to find out where the bowl came from, in the hope of meeting his ex again, but Fred, always the salesman, spins him a yarn - in actual fact, he found it among a lot of other old junk in his garage.
When Edith returns, she realises what has happened and decides that she has had enough. After telling Arthur a few home truths about his ex wife she goes to leave…but Arthur comes to his senses in time to get her back. They leave the hall, obviously intent upon making a fresh start.
Fred, ecstatic that he has made a lot of money out of the worthless bowl, offers to take Sylv on a dirty weekend to Brighton. She finally gets him to realise that his wife is Arthur’s ex….that the memories evoked by the bowl concern her. He promises to leave her…then recalls that mention was made of her father, a very rich man and over ninety years old. Fred points out that it would be stupid to leave his wife when she could come into a fortune at any time…that it is simply a matter of waiting…where upon Sylv walks out.
The Con Merchant Arnold Boot, self styled King of the Conmen, having been released from prison, is back in Battlesea looking for the loot from his last job, £50.000.
Being short of money, he tracks down his ex-wife, Ruby, in search of funds. To his surprise, he finds that she is now the proprietor of the run-down sea side café where she was previously employed, having married (and buried) her ex-employer. She also employs an attractive young lady Tracy Linnett, to help in the café, not knowing that, in reality, she is a rather green woman police constable who has been placed there in order to recover the stolen money. Tracy, however, falls madly in love with Sean, a chauffeur, the toy boy of Edith Butcher, an elderly con woman.
Edith manages to convince Arnold that she is anxious to marry him, and that she has plenty of money that she is willing to hand over to him. He finds however, that it only a trick to enable her to murder her husband Herbert while providing overwhelming evidence that the deed was done by Arnold. When Tracy at last reveals who she is, everybody is clearly going to prison for something or other…until Arnold shows her how she can have Sean and enough money to live in luxury.
Unfortunately, after she has left he finds that there is nothing left…even the money he was looking for has been spent on acquiring the café…the two con artists end up working in the café while the others take the money.
