Synopsis
This classic story adapted as a fun filled pantomime. A strange seafaring man arrives at the Benbow inn and dies mysteriously after eating the widow Hawkins specialty ‘addock a la Hawkins’ and receiving the blackspot from blind pew. The Widow discovers a treasure map of the infamous pirate Captain Clapper (Does the name ring a bell?) The widow, her son Jim, the squire and doctor set off on a voyage to treasure island. Little did they know the pirates led by Long John Silver were close by masquerading as honest crew of the ship. Fortunately Jim overhears the pirates plans whilst in an apple barrel and our heroes escape to the island. There they discover the castaway Benn Gunn who reveals there is no treasure only ‘chocolate you wally’. The Squire and Doctor are nearly eaten by cannibal Indians but are saved by marriage to the chiefs oldest daughter. Finally good triumphs over evil thanks to a cunning plan by Jim and the help of the cannibal Indians, who love Kentucky fried pirate. Our heroes safely return to the Benbow Inn, wiser if not richer.
