But help is at hand in the form of Ferdinand, a soldier who is down on his luck. Taking up the King’s challenge to discover what the princesses do to get through so many shoes, he finds himself following them through magical woods to a lakeside castle. There he meets the princesses and falls in love with one of them, only to have her snatched away by the villainous Knight who is out to take over the Kingdom. Needless to say, Ferdinand is not to be defeated and eventually, with a little help from a handy wizard, he restores the King’s fortune and marries his princess. Happy ever after? Of course.
