Bad Day for Bert, A Richard Hills Bert overslept when he forgot to wind up the alarm. This meant he had no breakfast, missed his bus, got soaked in the rain waiting for the next, got to work half an hour late and was stopped half an hour’s pay by his boss. Then in the garage where he works he took the bonnet off of a car and backed the car over it. His boss said he had to pay for the repair. Bert comes home to tea with some new soles to put on his shoes. He has problems with his wife and daughter, and to make matters worse his scrounging sister calls to borrow money from him. What more could happen? When putting new soles on his shoes he gets glue on his fingers and when drinking a cup of tea both hands have stuck to the cup. Putting his hands in a bowl of boiling water releases his hands from the cup but now he has scalded his hands and his wife bandages his hands like an Egyptian Mummy.
