Synopsis
All the characters in this hilarious plot are based on nursery rhymes.
The baddie is The Crooked Man who persuades Tom the piper’s son to find a way of getting into the castle to steal the recipe for the magic jam tarts baked by The Queen Of Hearts, which when eaten would make the Crooked Man all powerful and rich so that he could join Bupa to get the kinks out of his bones and go straight again. Of course he says he will share his wealth with Tom.
Tom is the son of one of the three pipers who play for Old King Cole at one of his many parties attended by Dame Tucker, the laundry lady, with her son Tommy Tucker, one of her many children who live in a shoe. They are Jack, Jill, Miss Muffet, Willie Winkie, Curly Locks and Boy Blue.
Tom the piper’s son creates a diversion by running off with a pig which allows the Crooked Man to steal the latest batch of jam tarts, but the recipe for magic ones is safely locked away, so the plan is now to get past Dumpty, the Lord Chamberlain, to crack the safe.
Before the plot gets sorted and the crook sorted out there are many hilarious moments with a slapstick cooking scene, a panto Cow, some rhyming dialogue and all the traditional ingredients.
Nine principal characters, Six delightful junior roles plus chorus and dancers.
Only four different sets.
